Tough men wear leather, and that’s exactly how it feels with furniture. That’s the nice little prejudice we all have known for a long time now. Luckily, Baxter has been rebutting this statement in the late 80s since accoutring furniture is one of the easiest tasks for the family Bestetti.

Accoutring? Naturalmente.

South of the Comer Lake, basically at the heart of Italian design, the finest suits are made. Not for people, though – they are made for English club furniture and its modern Italian counterparts. Velvety skins, finished to a high quality, take sofas’ and armchairs’ massiness away – sitting on one of these is a real pleasure.

The Bestettis know how to treat leather as well as fabric: with secret formulations that aren’t written down anywhere but passed on orally. Complex refinement processes extend the material’s life and preserve its natural structure. Since it is dyed by hand, the colour is able to deeply soak the material’s skin, which makes it everlasting. The material can breathe, it never feels cold and always looks beautiful.

Let’s talk about Budapest, one of Baxter’s bestsellers. You’ll barely encounter a sofa as soft and comfortable as this one. Of course, the pillows are stuffed with down feathers, which makes it really hard to get up again.
You might think that Budapest is a giant of a sofa, but since Paola Navone works with so much ease, it’s actually the exact opposite. Leather is becoming as soft and light as fabric – on a straight-line seating-accommodation that brims over with soul and feeling. Just as every other furniture made by Baxter does.
