Wasser kann man nicht weben, außer man ist Jutta Werner
How to get an idea you weren’t even thinking about.
As Der Hamburger says, Jutta Werner gets her inspiration “somewhere in the middle of nowhere”: on the street or outside in nature, for example. Sure, it happens to others who are searching for an idea as well – the thing is, Jutta Werner often encounters something she wasn’t even looking for.
At the Himalaya mountains, for example. Where others try to find their inner peace, she meets farmers who tie up their harvest with the help of glistening strings. The material’s play of colours catches her attention: the way the shimmer changes between silver and golden is truly fascinating.
The story about how old candy wrappers found their way into a new luxury carpet.
In an Indian weaving mill, she encounters that the strings are actually made of recycled materials: twisted cardboard, coated with glistening candy wrappers. Spectacularly beautiful and extremely firm at the same time.
Back at her studio, she starts experimenting with different materials – soft ones, in contrast to the thick balky strings she has encountered before. Finally, she decided for New Zealand new wool.
How unique things become even more unique with time.
The nomad_01 is born: a lively carpet that becomes prettier with each day. After a while, its candy-wrapper strings start unfurling a little, so new fascinating colours will appear frequently.
A unique copy from the beginning: its appearance is determined by the current Himalayan waste, if you want to say so. A nobleman with a sparkling-anarchical component.
